I would like to make a skin for my iphone but have never done anything with vinyl. Can someone tell me what kind of vinyl I would need to purchase for this?

I have't cut a lot of it. But I know you can order it off of ebay. The stuff they sell for the Cricut is so expensive. Also I have cut from a product called Wall Pops, you can buy it at Home Depot. The colors are limited though. Also you can use contact paper. I guess it depends on what colors you want. My one suggestion would be not to buy anything thin. I had some rolls given to me that were and they were nasty to cut. I know this isn't very helpful. But I do remember seeing on ebay the kind of vinyl that sign makers use and it wasn't that expensive.

Thanks for the input. I have searched online and there are so many different kinds of vinyl that I got really confused.

If you order $50 or more from H&H they have a code for free shipping on your first order. I think the code is FIRSTORDER. I ordered 1yrd of the 24" wide MacTac wall vinyl in a lot of colors. I've put it on my laptop, both of my kids walls (well almost anyway), and on scrapbook pages. It makes fantastic detailed borders that wouldn't survive out of most papers. I was pleased with how the MacTac weeded. I think they have Oracal now too, and that's what Cricut vinyl is. I did use the removable vinyl on my laptop, but some of the cuts were extremely delicate and some pieces are missing (most had help from my 2 yr old) so if you do use the removable vinyl you need to make sure there is plenty of substance to your design.

Hi I have cut vinyl before and use the same as sign writers use mostly 3M and Avery. Both are very good to cut and weed. I do have some on my website in A4 sheets but I am in Australia. I am sure you will find something similar where you are.
Cheers Jo

Wow, Heather your laptop looks great. I see your computer looks just like my daughter's and funnily enough she has spent the last few days creating a design for her laptop.
Laurianne, I think you will find outdoor vinyl will last longer. My SIL cuts vinyl all the time and the outdoor vinyl has stronger adhesives. Removable vinyl has adhesives that are designed for easy removal and on a phone it may not be strong enough.
If you live near a sign writing store you can sometimes talk them into selling you smaller pieces at a good price.
