A video showing how the Knot feature in the Inkscape path effect editor can be used to create files for your cutter. Very intricate celtic knot designs can be created quiet easily using the knot feature.

Carolyn, I am just getting into drawing Celtic knot designs - I have George Bain's classic 1940s work on this subject - I thought these complex shapes would lend themselves well to cutting with my Cougar, particularly in metal, with some added embossing. (Not there yet lol - still wrestling with getting the right settings for consistent cutting on my machine!) You have no idea how many hours I spent creating a fairly complex knot design, and if I had known this feature was available on Inkscape it would have cut my time to a fraction! I am feeling really encouraged to have another go now. It's great that you can really thicken up the line, and then make it cut as a double line. However, if it is really thick, there is no way of customising the ends of the lines where they overlap, as far as I can see - I think you've only got certain set options like mitre, square, round? It would be nice to make them diagonal if necessary, to fit the shape of the design, and make the woven effect look more realistic. Any idea how this might be done?
